St Marys College, Knockbeg

Mythen Construction are due to commence a €14m refurbishment and extension works to St Marys College, Knockbeg, Co. Laois in July 2017.  The works include refurbishment to three protected structures (the eighteenth century former Knockbeg House and 1870s extension, together with additional 1964 protected structure) totalling 5,502sq.m, plus demolitions of 2,587sq.m and a proposed extension of 3,227sq.m.

CBS & Colaiste Eamon Ris, Wexford

St Martins Special School, Waterford

Mythen Construction commenced work in August 2016 on the new 4100 sq.m Special School in Waterford.  The new school consists of a single storey special school on the site bounded by Richardson’s Folly, St John Villas lower Road, Scoil Lorcain Boys National School and St Otteran’s grounds, Waterford.  The development will consist of classrooms, associated teaching spaces, ancillary accommodation, general purpose room, play court, external soft play areas, car parking, external works and new boundary.  Works are expected to take 18 months.  Client is the Department of Education.

CBS Wexford & Colaiste Eamon Ris, Thomas St, Wexford

€11m redevelopment (extensions and alterations) to the CBS Wexford (Post-Primary School) & Colaiste Eamon Ris (Primary), Thomas Street, Wexford.  Minister Howlin, turned the sod on the new development which commenced in July 2015 with completion in August 2017.

IT Carlow Learning and Resource Centre

New construction on the IT Carlow campus of a 3 storey Teaching and Learning Centre of circa 3,100m2.  The new accommodation includes Lecture Theatres, Classrooms, Project Rooms, IT/Computer facilities, Staff facilities, Administration and Circulation Space, together with ancillary external works.

Barntown National School

New 16 classroom Generic Repeat Design (GRD) Primary School over two floors including new vehicular entrance, hard play areas and other external works.  The existing school was relocated in temporary accommodation on site and remained in operation during the construction period.  Existing school was demolished.

Holy Trinity National School, Leopardstown Valley, Dublin 18

Holy Trinity National School, Leopardstown New 24 Classroom school, 2 storey national school with 2 gp rooms, library, staff facilities, approx. 3,670sq.m plus 3 external ball courts, play areas, 50 carparking spaces, bicycle stands completed November 2014.  The existing school remained on site in relocated temporary accommodation during the 16th month construction period.

Bunscoil McAuley Rice, Callan, Kilkenny

Construction of a new 16 Classroom Generic Repeat Design new school on the grounds of an existing school, including all phasing,  and siteworks, and demolition of existing school.  All works carried out while the school was open.

Carrigaline Community School & PE Hall

New 3 storey extension 3899sq.m to Carrigaline Community School comprising 14 new classrooms, incl. lecture rooms, science labs, multi media, SNU and admin rooms, plus a new PE Hall of 1116sq.m with gymnasium & changing rooms.  The school remained live throughout the 14 month construction period and now houses 1200 pupils.

Barntown National School, Wexford

Turning of the Sod on Barntown National School, Wexford (Our Lady of Fatima National School), took place end of March 2014.  The construction of this new 16 classroom GRD (Generic Repeat Design) School has a construction value of €2.6m.

Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts

Mythen Construction built a 16 classroom new extension and carried out a complete refurbishment to 16 existing classrooms.  Mythen’s also provided an autistic and special needs unit, 800m2 GP unit/Sports Hall, new car park, new playing pitches and yard, new access road and landscaping. The total project size was approximately 4,000m2.

Silvermines National School

Silvermines school is an existing school in Tipperary. Mythen’s built a 3 classroom extension with a GP/Sports Hall along with a library, staff room, special tuition/needs room and stores.

Tinahealy Community Centre & Creche

The works involved the construction of a 1,100m2 new two storey Community Centre and specialist Crèche on a green field site, consisting of child care rooms, kitchen/canteen facilities, meeting rooms, offices, staff areas, sanitary facilities, toilets and the construction of an access roadway to service the building and landscaping.

Crossabeg National School

Mythen Construction built a 900m2 new extension, which consisted of 5 number new classrooms and corridor areas and a 200m2 GP room, staff room and toilets. In addition 3 no. existing classrooms and corridors were refurbished. External works included new access road, paths, paving and landscaping, basketball courts and a new junior surface play area.  The project was completed while the school was fully operational.
